Could someone please look up the cross reference numbers for a Sparton flyback (Sparton part number PB40216, I think). The set is a model 5006X chassis number 25TK10A. It is in Sams 121-13. I would look in mine except they are 2000 miles away!

Thank you,
Steve

SAMS 121-13 Chassis 5006X I happen to have that SAMS and not the TV! :nono:

Flyback number PC7007 converts to Thordarson FLY5 and Merit HVO6.

Hope to see the TV working soon. :smoke:

Thanks Polaraman, that's the info I needed!

Do you need a Flyback?

I have a NOS Merit HVO-6 at least that's what the box says.
Supposed to be for a GE?, does it look anything like this picture?

I sent you a PM.

Steve K,

I check my xrefs, and here is what they say:

Thordarsen PB40216 = FLY1, P7007 = FLY5,3 (?)
Stancor PC7007 = A 8130
Merit PB40216 = HVO3, PC7007 = HVO10

There seem to be a large number of model and chassis numbers which use either the PB40216 or the PC 7007 part number. A bit confusing.

Check the part number on the flyback in your set.

Thanks John, now I'm really confused! It looks like it is the PC7007 part number but Polaraman stated that a HVO6 subs and your info says HVO10. Eric has an HVO6 so I hope that it works!

Steve, should I hold off sending the Fly till we figure this out?

Eric:

Yes, let me do a little more research first.

Thanks,

Steve,

I did a bit of research for you on this one. Sparton made two different 5006 models. Need to check the actual circuit first to verify whatcha got.

Model 5006X, 25TK10A chassis uses PC7007 flyback. You can verify this by finding a 1X2 H.V. rectifier tube in the cage. See attached picture with schmatic. This fly has a 4th tap that goes directly to the anode of the damper tube! That should sub to a Merit HVO-10

Model 5006, 23TD10 chassis uses a PB40216 flyback. You verify this one by finding a 1B3 H.V. recitifier tube in the cage. Schematic also attached. This fly does NOT have a 4th tap going directly to the anode of the damper tube! This would be a Merit HVO3, or Thordarson FLY 1

Look forward to some pics when you get'r going.

Tom:

Thank you for the information. This set uses the 1X2. According to Polaraman the Sams says that a Merit HVO-6 should work and Eric has one. But you and John say HVO-10. Are the HVO-6 and HVO-10 interchangable by any chance?

Here's the schematic for the HVO-6, it uses a 1X2 and a BQ6 output tube
but physically it looks nothing like a FLY1 which is used in most of the early RCA sets.

This xref may be of some use to you guys, now or in the future. Note that HVO 10 corsses to several FLYs (curious) and HVO 6 does not show up at all!

There is no harm in trying the HVO 6, at worst it will not work properly. It has the right topography.

I would only caution that Sams photofacts are rife with errosr, though the cross references may contain errors as well.

OK, Eric I'll give your's a try. Like John said, what's the worse that could happen. I suppose that it could blow up the house but I'll take my chances!

John,

Thanks for posting the cross reference. Hopefully the SAMS is right. I would check it over before installing it. Let us know because we may need another change to the SAMS.

John, thanks for the cross reference.

Steve, my circuit diagrams came from the original Riders publications, not SAMS.

OK Steve, I'll send it out tomorrow (Tuesday)
