Check this thing out I picked up recently at a thrift shop. It's a Sears Solid State TeleCaption box. It has settings for C1 and C2, and other settings for TV, caption, and text. Pretty heavy bugger for what it is. I haven't tried it out yet, I just don't know if anyone's ever seen one.....

I seem to vaguely remember these things.
Wonder if it's still compatable with the current system?

I think I may be playing around with this thing over the weekend!

It would be interesting to look in to the history of this piece though.....I'd have to think that this is pretty darned early on. Think I'll try it and see if it works.

Yep, those still work on the current format. I have the same one! I picked mine up at a thrift shop too about 5 years ago. When its on, it displays the words one at a time, not the complete sentance all at once!!!

i think that one is built by sanyo.
i used to service the sanyo 19" tv with essentialy that unit built in for a medical equipment rental place in dayton.you need a real clean signal for it to work well.some of the errors can be funny!
