I love the Sony Walkman SRF-H2 headphone AM/FM receiver, it picks up well, is light and a battery lasts for months not like some newer digital ones that burn batteries.

I have two that have just stopped working after lasting several years. Nothing, just dead. New battery does not help. I have cleaned all the switches and volume control with tuner cleaner too.

Anybody got a clue what could be bad that could cause this dead problem?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry, I have no idea what the problem is. I have an H2 and it's going strong. The only problem I have is that the little plastic window over the frequency display fell off. I found it days later in the yard - amazing, as it is maybe an inch long and 3/8 or so tall. I glued it on and it's been fine ever since. I like the convenience of digital tuning, but this little analog guy is soooo good on one AA (as you noted) that it's hard to give up. Good luck getting yours going again (but where to start?)

check to see if the battery terminals are bent away from the battery making it loose.
