I dont get why they go for so much in bad shape when on the net is a ground up resto 621 for $1,100.00?
This one on ebay , wood on bottom and 1 side comming apart, speaker ripped,
blonde finish stained bad, wood and glass on front of crt missing.
At these prices I will never have a real one only my 2 clones.

The prices for 621s seem to be going up at a rapid rate. You could buy a decent one for $800 a couple of years ago. Now it seems like $2000 isn't uncommon.

That $1100.00 set hasn't been available for years, I inquired about it some time ago.

There has been at least one RCA 621 for sale at the Early Television convention for the last 2 years. Two years ago one went home to California. This year one went to Saint Louis. I think they went for around $1500-$1600. I was lucky to find one locally for $650 six years ago.

I just did a google search for RCA 621TS and found one for sale on the RadiolaGuy site listed on his "New Items not yet photographed, checked or posted".

http://www.radiolaguy.com/newItems.htm

So they can at least be found but not cheap.

One popped up on Ebay in Atlanta. It was listed in the wrong category. I thought I would have a chance at getting it. It was also missing some parts. The set went for $500 or $600 bucks. I could not believe that it went for that much. Those sets appear to really popular right now. Sell Em if you got EM. The price might crash in a few months.

I ask him about that 621 a while back, he wants to trade not sell.

This is possible but strange.
Bidder on 621 did not exist untill last hour of bid and now bid is over
does not exist again.
I was next highest bidder.

Are other RCA models rising in value? Just wondering because I have an 8T-243 in fair condition. What are they going for? I think the year was 1947.

Interesting, he bid on a bunch of stuff today http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=eric7866&completed=1&all=1&rows=25&sort=3
and now is NARU'ed
Perhaps he was just a crank bidder? Maybe you still have a chance to get the set. Wouldn't hurt to write the seller and ask if the bid was legit/

A 621TS is a pretty looking set. I'd LOVE to own one. I remember I was bidding on ebay for one in decent condition and went for $1500. I was depressed I lost the auction. :)

I'm still holding out hope that I'll get one. But it sure as heck won't be via eBay. If I get one it will be at the flea market or some yard sale or used furniture store, maybe the auction barn-my usual haunts!

Back in the winter there was an estate auction about an hour and a half away where they advertised they would be selling that town's first tv set! I decided it wasn't worth the drive but a few weeks later I spotted the tv, with documentation, on the floor of an antique mall. The price wasn't unreasonable, in the $125 range as I recall, but it was from about '48. (an RCA) Seeing as I have NEVER spent over $100 on ANY tv set, new or used, I wasn't ready to do it here, either!

Under TV SWAP BOARD I had started Wanted RCA 621 cabinet.
A 1st Pic of base and 2 sides of home made cabinet is there.
Worked for 3 weekends on trying to install front and top. I found
I dont have skill to bend plywood so I used a cheat a 1/4
round section at curve that has lips to glue front and top to.
Next step is to put final layer of wood on to tie 3 pieces together
and make it look like I bent plywood.

For comparison: a non-working Philips TD1410U from 1952 was gone for EUR 895.00 yesterday. See ebay item number 6190400564. Before two years a TD1410U usually was sold for EUR 400 - 700 in working condition.
