View Full Version : Nice Roundie on eBay!! Eric H 05-02-2005, 10:27 AM http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=73374&item=5771638053&rd=1 compucat 05-02-2005, 11:29 AM Wow, that's a beautiful set. I have always wanted a round screen color TV. nasadowsk 05-02-2005, 11:42 AM That a 15 or 16? It says NewVista, weren't the 16's the first NewVista sets? Controls look like a 15 though. Early 16? Late 15? heathkit tv 05-02-2005, 11:59 AM They've taken the description of "Color TV" a little too literally....it's ONE color! :lmao: Nice looking set, and it even still has that hanging tag. Anthony Steve D. 05-02-2005, 04:02 PM The "Wakeley" model printed on hang tag (although RCA spells it Wakely in its service guide) is a CTC-11 series (1962). The 4 controls below the hang tag are a clue it's a pre CTC-12 chassis. Nice clean set. I believe the term "New Vista" first appeared on the CTC-10 models. Steve D. charliesheen 05-02-2005, 05:33 PM well polaraman, if i had a good ole dodge truck that could go across the country i would get the set myself.i hope you win this set. charlie Tony V 05-02-2005, 08:03 PM Very nice set. I have my eye on this one too since its within driving distance. It would be nice to have a nice non-combo roundie set. -Tony RetroHacker 05-02-2005, 08:50 PM Now _that_ is a nice set. Looks like polaraman is going for it though. I can't even hope to compete with him :) . It's almost too nice though - it looks like it's in perfect condition. I'd love to get a roundie one of these days, but it would be fun to be able to do a little work on it too... Besides, I'd never be able to afford it anyway. I have a feeling this one's going to get expensive. Good luck polaraman - we're rooting for you! -Ian polaraman 05-03-2005, 09:06 AM I am in Pennsylvania on vacation right now. The set will close before I have to go back to Georgia. Plus, it is on my way home. I decided to go for it. polaraman yagosaga 05-03-2005, 11:47 AM I am in Pennsylvania on vacation right now. Hope the red gun ist still good. oldtvman 05-03-2005, 06:21 PM that model had to be early 62" shortly after that they introduced the crt's with the bonded safety glass and anti-glare surface, by 1963 all crt's had the bonded glass both regular and ant-glare oldtvman 05-03-2005, 06:22 PM i guess the new vista replaced the old vista Steve Hoffman 05-03-2005, 07:14 PM Ba dum! Eric H 05-03-2005, 10:14 PM that model had to be early 62" shortly after that they introduced the crt's with the bonded safety glass and anti-glare surface, by 1963 all crt's had the bonded glass both regular and ant-glare But this set has a safety glass and wouldn't require a bonded tube? Steve D. 05-03-2005, 11:23 PM In 1962 RCA offered CTC-11 models with both the 21FJ bonded or the 21FB conventional tube. Both were the new all-sulfide higher brightness tube. -Steve D. heathkit tv 05-04-2005, 03:35 AM I've been known to contain high sulfides.....hold yer noses when I expel them! Anthony captainmoody 05-09-2005, 07:32 PM Was the winner of the set anyone on this forum? polaraman 05-09-2005, 07:49 PM I can say it was not me. Maybe Tony v got the set. polaraman Tony V 05-09-2005, 11:14 PM No Polara...i didnt get the set. I wish i would have though just like you as i wanted a regular color roundie to go in my den where my roundie combo wont fit...lol...go figure. I just hope it went to a good home as that was a nice set. We might be lucky in the fact it might be a member from here that way we can see how it ends up. -Tony Eric H 05-10-2005, 12:11 AM Closed at $152.50, seems pretty cheap for a set that nice? yagosaga 05-10-2005, 01:15 AM Closed at $152.50, seems pretty cheap for a set that nice? Is it right to say that the prices for vintage sets increase? On http://www.earlytelevision.org/how_much.html I read that "newer sets are worth less, with a 1965 set typically selling for under $100." |
