Hi All,
Had to take a falling apart pressed sawdust bookcase to the dump and i spy a 1976 RCA XL100 color "lugable" tv set lying on a mattress. The dumpman lets me take it home. I pop off the back and nothing looks burnt. I get it inside and plug it up and this happens. It is a model FA450F

Awesome! Right place, right time, dumpman much more reasonable than most, pretty hard to beat that.

Yes, another nice Real RCA gets saved. Older XL-100 sets were very good sets, nicely made in the USA, and built to make good pictures and last.

wow great save , iv been looking for a magnavox version of that set for years , the outside looked very similar to that one , the inside had removable boards like that to.my dad bought the 19" set in the 70's after the 25" console pooped out, they are all just gone now they were too easy to push into a dumpster back then . still hope to find one .

One of my favorite RCA sets. Better than the SCR sweep &
in line tube rigs.

Only a few common probs.
Shorted H out.
Cold joints at pin transformers ( top R of horz board)
Thermistor behind chassis & under CRT
Shorted regulator ( sends H freq off to hold down HV )

73 Zeno:smoke:

I'd become real good friends with that dumpman. Send him a Christmas card too.
I once had an interesting discussion with a thrift store employee. I told him that anything American made was collectible. He had a real strange look come over his face when he realized those jobs weren't coming back.

CTC62 was an ITR/SCR sweep set with a bonded yoke tube. This set looks to be a CTC60 - 19VETP22 with a standard yoke and HOT sweep.

I checked inside and there is CTC76a printed on the chassis.
If anyone has a service manual for this set, i would like to get a copy just incase.

I'd say find out which brand of Rotgut the guy likes,& then get him a reasonably big-sized bottle of same..
