I've got a 45-rpm record with Galvin giving the shareholders presentation - it was from either 68, 69, or 70, and mentions Apollo moon mission stuff and how Motorola supplied spacecraft and lunar surface hardware.

You used to be able to download all of the Motorola shareholder/Annual report stuff back to 1966 on Motorola.com, before they spun off Freescale and OnSemi. On one, they had a WITD Quasar set on the cover, with chassis extended. That same image was used on a book by Middleton or some other TV tech./author. I remember reading one annual report and how they had made and shipped over 1 Duodecillion (10^39th power...) transistors ....in their LSI IC products.

The sets shown and Paul Galvin's blurb suggest 1951 or 52.

Thanks for sharing the old Moto promo lit. I like the final all over test photo. It looks like the guy is smacking the set.

Don't know if that's what's going on there, but I do know that at Zenith there was a final test called something like "JWS" (Jumps When Struck) which was done with a rubber ball on the end of a sturdy stick, banging the set on both sides and the top. If the picture jumped, the set was sent for analysis and fixing of whatever was intermittent before being OK'd.
