Hi all, yet another project this time a Sinclair but was wondering if anyone has a schematic in English for this set or any info as to what is known to go bad or components that should be changed to get it up and running. Don't know if this is correct but this set takes a 12 volt ac adapter or 6 volts in battery power ? It is an electrostatic set so I'm sure the hv caps will be bad but I don't know if the components like caps have the values on them in English rather then German . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks. :scratch2:

Having owned German and Japanese made radios and TVs I can tell you that the component labels will read the same in both languages...Except for pot functions.

Timmy,

I have this set. It's been reliable. If the front bezel is not cracked be careful! Here is a tutorial. https://visions4netjournal.com/viewers-televisions/ Most problems have been the battery leaking on the traces.

I have a PDF service manual for the MTV1 send me a PM.

Edit: 12 volt, center polarity. I have to double check on that.

Bought my Sinclair MTV-1 new back in 1978 or so. I still have the original box and all the accessories w/user manual. Haven't turned it on in years.

Ok I got the little set working was a bad solder joint but I had the misfortune of accidently having a wire from the IF touch the vert size and horiz and sparked so now pic, sound, and deflection is gone so the transistors I can get and for the IF I'm thinking if I get deflection back maybe I can inject the ant to another spot to get the signal back , I don't know. There is an IC chip for the deflection and cannot find an equivalent by the number on it so does anyone have a way to find this chip or an IC book for subs. The chip reads, st30101 and under that is 7718 it's a 16 pin. The chip may be good as the the transistor would probably go first. But wanted to have a line on another chip just in case it's bad.

I have no good suggestions for finding the chip, but you could find a donor set on eBay.

Did anybody else get a bellyful of all the snarky-ass comments that parents were SO effin' quick to let fly when they did NOT approve of what we spent our dinero on ?!? But let my sister drop 50 large or so on some refugee from the glue factory,& THAT was never "Wasting" yr money.. She could go in said Nag's stall, it would put its head on her shoulder, lock itsl egs & go to sleep.I have seen her in a stall, she'd be leaning up against its back legs, both of 'em sound asleep. I could go in a stall. & often as not ,the damthing would try hard to bite me. I did make friends w/.our Angus bull, PoJo. The last winter of his life, I'd go up to the farm, grab a curry-comb, & spend the next hour or so going all over him w/the curry. I'dquit & he'd look back at me & "Moo" ever do softly, ilke "PLEASE don't quit, that feels so good.. If you REALLY wanted to make pointsw/him,you'd bring him some sweet feed-dried molasses, corn &wheat, he'deat that right out of yr hands, & slurp you on yr cheek. Cattle, if you pick out one or 2,& work w/them, they usually are rather docile. Brushing one, bringing him a treat talking softly to him, you'll find that you've prolly made yrself a buddy.

there is one of these sets on ebay but kind of pricey for use as a donor and it may not work as it is, as is.
