A friend of mine found this Admiral rectangular color console for me last weekend at an estate sale for $15. The crt tests good and should be a fun restoration. I don't have the sams for it and can't find much information on it. I'm sure it is later than 1965, given the 25AP22 crt. The flyback also looks really good in it too. So far no raster, but I can hear the hv running. I have to finish a RCA CTC-11C for my friend before I can move into it. Anyone know anything about Admiral color sets? It still hasthe owners manual and all of the service receipts.

The Sams Photofact for this set was issued in October 1965.

Thanks! Do you have any scans of it? I think it is 976-1?

776-1. No scans, I just looked it up in the index.

I played with the set a little tonight and got a washed out picture! At least I know everything is working.

Good to see the crt light up for you. I checked the Sams for your set. The original crt was supposed to be a 23EGP22. Then I check PCB 941-3 for February of 1968 and it didn't show any CRT updates. There were changes to the flyback circuits, convergence circuits and many different tuners.

Ed,

Well you got me thinking. It could be a 23EGP22 crt, because I can't see a label on the crt. The yoke and convergence assembly covers the entire neck until the last 1/2". I forgot that the 23EGP22 is a 25" tube also, not a 23. I now remember reading in someone else's thread about the ruling on this screen size due to how much was actually visible. When I got it, the crt didn't light at all. I checked the hv cage and the grid cap on the 3A3 was corroded. I cleaned it and fired the set back up. The electrolytic cans stay cool, so I haven't worried about firing this set up. I will do an entire recap on it though. I also haven't tested all of the tubes yet either, but the damper and horizontal output and oscillator tubes tested good. The stereo in it is solid state and works great and the record player seems to work also.

Forgot to add this tube layout and reference to both crts.

The EGP had it's HV connector on the side (not the top like all other rect deltaguns) so it should be really easy to spot even without a label.

The EGP's were swapped out on many of these. Had to
trim the rubber mounts on all corners to fit.
Most also came with a pair of 6KD6 outputs but when
the FBT's went that got changed. The FBT was a huge kit
with pages of changes. Really sucked doing one, rather
work on a GE !
Last thing is always try a new 6EW6 vid amp. It can make
a huge improvement in resolution.

Thanks. The hv connector is on the top of this crt. I'll finishing testing the tubes tonight.

Saw a set identical to that on Craigslist near Nashville a while ago. Too far for me to get, plus no room for another Admiral combo. That chassis looks just like the one in my Admiral roundie combo. Very unique design, I'd like to find a standalone Admiral tube color set.

Found it again. https://nashville.craigslist.org/fuo/5979985073.html

I did the convergeance adjustments after replacing a weak color killer/burst tube (6GH8) tube. The volume control definitely needs sprayed, but when you get it right, the sound from those 12" speakers and multiple little speakers is awesome!
