Sound was failing and the radio was not working. Went to the tech to fix the sound and put the radio working again. Unfortunately when we tried the TV... all we got was an horizontal white line across the screen. The tech said it was working nicely the day before. Now, any thoughts on what might be wrong with this thing?

Nice, i've wanted one of these for awhile now! show a pic!

Has it been re-capped? if so, it could be a tube in the vertical circuits, or even a new cap failed in the vert.

As far as I know, I really have no clue if the previous owner(s) had it recapped or not. I never recapped it, and it is been in my possession for... I believe more than a year ( my memory isn't too good these days ).

Here are a few pics I took of it days before I sent it to the tech:

Nice!

hmm, It looks as if the horizontal wasn't set quiet right either (black bars on sides). I don't know if there's a setting or not for that though on these sets. If not it's got some worn tubes, bad caps, or drifted resistor's.

Open it up, or have the tech open it and find out if it's been re-capped. If not, I'll bet new caps will fix it, and you'll make the set more reliable for years to come!

Did it come from the US or locally.
I don't remember if Brazil is 50 or 60 HZ. That could the problem for the underscan. Different line frequency.
It's a power transformer set with a voltage doubler. :scratch2:

The set came from a local dealer of antique itens, but he coudn't or didn't wanted to tell me where he acquired the TV. Anyway, these TVs were sold here in the 1950's - they do occasionaly appear on the antiquitys market.
