I have a 5 month old Sony LCD KDL-60W630B that all of a sudden has a red vertical line running the entire length of the screen. It happens on all sources and even with the internal smart features. Any suggestions?

A single line is almost ALWAYS a panel problem...welcome to the world of the "reliable flat panel tv".

Or, maybe not, see case 26:

6 mo old. Doesn't it have a warranty?

btw... my 2008 Sony 40V4100 LCD set with well over 40,000 hours on it has never had an issue. Cannot claim the same for CRT sets I've owned or still have. The Sony LCD set replaced a 1987 30" NEC with a Toshiba tube which had 2 CRTs fail, and those big suckers were heavy and cost more than the set, not too unusual, they were fortunately in warranty. And the horiz out transformer HV multiplier whatever it's called failed, arcing to nearest ground. I installed a new one just before they became NLA from NEC. That NEC is out in the garage, if anyone wants to come pick it up! I have a 19" Space Command Zenith with Space Phone for pickup too!

Case 26:
All those parts mentioned are part of the panel. Not normally repairable

1st thing, call Sony. If they won't do anything, check the connections for the panel which is usually just a big ribbon cable and the a separate power connector or 2, clean the contacts. If everything checks out then it will be hard to determine if it is your panel or the board (TPMS Chip?) without another one just like it.

I have watched 2 DLP TV's die. My Samsung (first thing I ever bought on credit) and a Sony I found at the dump. They both had bad DLP chips, the Samsung had it replaced once under recall. We just bought a Samsung LCD, we shall see how long that lasts. It's a nice looking TV even on my dated sources.
