Saw this posted on my local CL in the free section.
Don't need it, don't really have the room, but the hoarder in me wants to save it. ( if the scrappers haven't picked it up first)
I usually can tell right off what brand a set is, but I can't tell on this one.
Anybody have any idea? I'm thinking RCA or NAP Sylvania.

I'm pretty sure it's a Sylvania.

that's what I was thinking. The CL ad said 70's, so was hoping a GTE era set or early NAP. I'm thinking it looks more mid to late 80's tho. I can't tell if it's a Delta or inline tube.

Sylvania for sure. I think its a NAP with one of the C chassii
but not 100%.

the person emailed back, and said it was available, and yes... Sylvania.
Was that a good chassis Zeno?
Not sure I wanna bother with it. If I get a Sylvania, would prefer a 70's GT-Matic, but you NEVER see those in the wild anymore.

well... the lady emailed back and said a guy was on his way to pick it up. Most likely a scrapper. Kinda sad, because the pix on it looks great.

Scrapper on a floor model set.... Less likely, especially if they have to go get it...
Fishtanker possibly........ Or someone for their basement kids room....
That set will make kids happy, and its 300 times more durable than a Jetson's tv...

I think GT-matic are rare because the CRT's didnt last on
both the 19" & 25". Had an awesome pix when good though.
Late GT's also had FBT's go & take the HOT & regulator. Using
OEM parts it was a $200 repair carry in !.

C1 & 2 chassii only went in Maggies & was there best ever IMHO
C3 was a low end POS found in all NAP sets. Worse power supply
ever in a TV. Worse than a Sony with 2 SG613's
The rest of the C's power supplys were a pain. The rest of the chassis
OK but had common probs.

That's what mine is, and if one turned up where *I* could lay hands on it, they could be anywhere in North America.

That set may have either an E34 chassis or an E53 chassis in it and both were carried over for a little while after NAP bought the Sylvania and Philco brands. I've seen the E3x series used in Magnavox, Philco, and Sylvania branded TV's and it was a decent chassis, except for the flyback. The E53 was was a 3-board modular chassis with an inline CRT. There's a slight chance that it could be an E48 and this was the best GTmatic chassis - 3 board modular chassis, delta gun CRT, and a power transformer.

We had either a 19" C1 or C2 (both basically the same) Magnavox and the only trouble it gave was bad solder connections. It still worked when we got rid of it; but, the CRT was getting very tired.

The C3 and C5 were two that I didn't care for and my feelings won't be hurt if i never see another one.

I really do NOT miss the E34 either. Like the C3 abd C5 ...it was a hot chassis with a single board and ate flys too.

The E-53 LOOKED nice.... with a metal frame...but it was ALSO hot and fly's did not hold up too well in them either.

But if I came across one today...with a good tube and fly... I do NOT think I would pass it up.
