I got these today a Capehart 6TP45 and a Zenith H664 Bakelite radio phonograph with the cobramatic changer. $25 for both. Sorry the pictures are sideways. I havent moved them from my phone yet.

Those will be nice, once restored. The Capehart is probably a rare bird.

The capehart is intresting indeed. It has 3 speakers driven by a couple of 35L6 tubes in push pull it appears. The zenith will need a speaker i know.

Here are the changers. Who made the one in the capehart? The zenith has a cobramatic.

To my untrained eye the Capehart changer looks like a Webster-Chicago/Webcor.

Not a Webcor as the stabilizer arm is in the wrong place. Its a V-M Tri-o-matic

Yes, early VM, 900 series. There should be a changer model number stamped on the bottom.

That's what I was going to say, it looks like a Voice of Music turntable inside that old Capehart, it should be a pretty easy unit to get up and running again, and parts are still available for it over at http://www.thevoiceofmusic.com which Gary Stork over there can hook you up with any parts you may need, he'll probably have the parts for your Zenith Cobramatic as well. :yes: :thmbsp:

That Cobramatic was probably made by Voice Of Music as well.

The design was exclusive to Zenith, But I've heard they may have been actually manufactured by one of the Chicago area changer companies for Zenith- Maybe Webster-Chicago. It was probably designed by Zenith. After 1957 or so, Zenith Swtiched to VM for most units, even though they were still branded as "Cobramatics"

I wonder who made the Zenith changer that had the 45 spindle, that split and folded into the turntable. :scratch2:

The one with the built in 45 spindle seems to have been made by Zenith themselves. Its a nice unit. have one on my "to restore" pile. Pity they cheaped out a little and put a 2 pole motor in it, though. Thats the only thing keeping it out of the top tier of record changers.
