Figured since we're just over a month out of the ETF convention, I'd start a thread for those of us who are planning to attend.

Please feel free to post in this thread stuff you want, stuff you want to sell, if you need a room, if you need a ride....or whatever else you'd like to post.

For those not familiar with the meet: http://www.earlytelevision.org/2015_convention.html

I am for SURE bringing a 7JP4 tube not new but good.

Not sure what else yet...

I'll be arriving in on Thursday afternoon, to have time to relax on this mini-vacation and have time to settle in and hang with my TV brethren :D . Shipping out on Sunday AM.

Okay! Here's a few things I can bring with me to ETF, if anyone's interested :)

Picture tubes:

21YP4 RCA Silverama, tests excellent, $25
21EP4 RCA Silverama, tests excellent, $25 (SOLD)
17BP4 Arnco - tests great but it looks like a VOT failed while someone was out of the room and it's got a line burn. $10 (PENDING SALE)

Delivery to ETF in a month, but I'd ask for PayPal in advance....I just don't wanna be stuck bringing them both ways ;)

I am going to the convention Thursday-Saturday. I and am getting there in my dad's panel van. I could provide transport for anyone's big purchases back east. I could drop off purchases within a reasonable radius of Buffalo, NY. If anyone's interested PM me.

I have a couple of oscilloscope CRTs I could bring. I've got a 3AP1A and two 2AP1A's. Also I've got a couple of cabinet parts for an old Truetone D2923 and the chassis of a RCA 8-X-546 minus the antenna loop.
I am looking for a good 21ZP4A,C.

I would like to find an RCA CTC 36, or CTC 53, these are the plastic cabinet "portable/table model" 19" screen color set. I will be at the ETF MEET in Hilliard Ohio, May 1,2,3. Thanks, Dave.
I also have this posted this in the "Classified" Section under the "Post your want lists" thought I'd try here as well! Looking forward to 1st. weekend in May:)

One thing on my serious want list right now is a bubble magnifier of any kind for a 10" set.

Or, anyone that might have a restorable or working chassis for a Philco 95 highboy radio. Friend of mine has one and the transformer is cooked....

Three more things I need :)

Two of which are knobs, as shown here. I'll buy them whether you'll be at ETF or not. One's for my son's Admiral 30A1 and the other is the fine tuning knob for this 1940s RCA channel knob....I need the one that goes underneath.

Lastly, if anyone has a chassis for an RCA 730TV1 or RCA 730TV2, I could use it. I'm rather frustrated with mine :)

Ohhhh Knobs, I didn't think about that :scratch2:.

I need some of the common RCA knobs. I need three of the inner knobs that RCA used on it's dual controls. You know the ones that are rectangular with a round bump out in the middle. I had two on my RCA 730TV1 that my daughter decided to liberate and one other set that was missing one of them. I also need one of the "pinch" style knobs from RCA that they used in the late 30's.

That is my CT-100. Listing corrected to restored chassis...by two of us...and the bulb is bad. It needs a better home. Auction item. And I will include a RCA matchbook from the dealer I got it from. The set was never sold and was a demo in his shop for 50 years in SE PA in a tiny town when I got it. Just as dead then as now. The shop had seen a flood or two and I had to refinish a front piece on the bottom.

I will edit/add to this post with others I am bringing to auction as they fit in the van. An unsold RCA BW 21" blonde metal table top for starters. A Zenith 25" color. A few 40's/50's 10" and some 70's/80's BW little SS portables to come.

Getting close!

I'll be getting in on Thursday afternoon (coming from Buffalo), along with BigAudioAl, rodmonster, (coming in from DC/VA) and philtar0079 (coming in from Western NY near the PA border). We plan on just hanging out at the hotel and in town till Friday. We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Dublin. Is anyone else getting in early and want to hang out, visit, maybe have a couple drinks or coffee?

Also, things have changed up with the Ed Reitan auction:

TV sets, cameras and other items from Ed Reitan's collection will be auctioned beginning at the 2015 Convention. Each item will have a reserve price (announced at the Convention). They will be in our silent auction, with bids accepted from 8:30 AM until about 6 PM on Saturday, May 2. If the reserve is met, the item will be sold.

If the item does not sell in the Convention silent auction, it will be put in an online auction on this site. The auction will last for about 30 days. Exact closing dates and times will be announced when the online auction begins.

Put the littler monsters on the bigger ones, and get one of those handheld motorized pet nail files to round off/smooth their claws so they can't climb.

Our Ginger kitty used to climb the curtains in the house I grew up in, and hide in the top on the wall mount, but as she got bigger than kitten size that started to bend and damage the whole shebang, and eventually to keep it from becoming dangerous the claws were continually kept dulled.

Welp, I bought the CTC-7 Stanford ( http://www.earlytelevision.org/reitan_auction_21CD8775.html ), A Dumont Doghouse, an Admiral 19A11 chassis, the correct table for my 8TS30, a bubble magnifier, two other consoles, a GE 10" table model, bunches of tubes, and about 600 lb worth of broadcast gear including 3 IVC 500-A color broadcast cameras. Plus other stuff that's so buried in my car I couldn't even get to it.

Had a friend with a box truck there to grab my consoles. Having serious doubt that I can fit my suitcase in the car at this point

...and back towards home tomorrow evening. Was sure great hanging out with you guys :)

Is anyone heading home through, or close to, Pittsburgh that has room for a 10" table top set? I had to leave abruptly in the middle of the night last night and left a set behind that I won in the auction. If anyone can help I would be very indebted. Just give me a call or text seven two four four nine three four two one one.

I can even meet someone at the New Stanton exit if they are headed east on 70/76/PA Turnpike.

I had no idea what was going on with the set after the auction or I'd have tried to make a connection for you. As it was they were rushing us out the door so they could lock up. We had to rush out consoles out into the parking lot so they could close the overhead door. Loaded like 6 consoles in the back of a box truck and by the time we got done, I ended up missing out on the ETF dinner :(

Same here. I'm in the Worthington area (but Hilliard is my hometown) -- where are you?

Man, that ETF museum was fantastic. Overwhelming number of sets in the museum. Color wheels working, CT-100 working, tons of pre-war sets - working and even a few mechanical sets working. Amazing stuff. Had a great time. Then add on top of that the auction, silent auction, swap meet and private sales - I could have come home with a dozen sets!!!! I was a good boy and only picked up three.

Private sale of a practically PERFECT 1959 Zenith
Nice little 7 inch Motorola that I won in the silent auction
Private sale of a Pilot TV-37.

Also scored a nice Admiral record player/AM radio tabletop model, few albums and a ton of tubes.

GREAT trip. Even liked helping out the museum gang set up on Thursday and Friday. Although I tried to avoid the heavy lifting with my back issues. Left that up to Kamakiri and Rodmonster. :D

It was a great time, and it was fun visiting with everyone that I already know, and meeting my fellow VK'ers, Rodmonster and Bigaudioal, for the first time. I look forward to this meet every year, it's a must attend for me! I came home with a couple sets I'm thrilled about, a metal cabinet RCA CTC 10A from the Silent auction, and a Sharp color portable 15" from 1972, that has tubes in it, from the Flea Market!

Tim K;

Posting this 1958 TV Guide ad for your recently acquired RCA "Sanford" CTC-7.
Notice both you and the ETF call it the "Stanford" model. Great consolette. I always admired it when visiting Ed Reitan's apt. in Westwood, Ca.
Great to finally meet you at the ETF convention this year. Very happy you were able to have the winning bid on the color set. I know you really wanted it for your collection.

Sure did, and thanks for the correction on the name. I just called it that because that's what it was labeled.

Sanford, hm? Kinda fits me. Sanford, Fred G. :)

The name mix up makes me think there should be a "you big dummy!" in there somewhere.
