View Full Version : 12" color CRT TV or Monitor?

Well, I am thinking about finally getting to one of my "bucket list" projects.

I have a TRS-80 model 4. When it was shipped to me with no packing materials whatsoever, somehow the CRT didn't survive. Go figure right? And the CRT rolled around inside and destroyed every single board except the keyboard. So basically I have a nice shell.

What I would like to do is just turn it into a vintage PC/Emulator gaming rig. I would like to find a 12" color CRT that would fit into the original 12" BW CRT spot. I know I could put an LCD in there, but I would like to keep it CRT. Problem is, I seem to only find 9" and 13"/14" color CRTs.

Anybody have a 12" color monitor or TV they want to unload? A monitor would be best, but since it's just going to be for gaming, I can use a TV. Problem is, it has to be kinda shallow too (the neck can't be very long). I can get measurements if anybody comes up with a prospect.

Or do you guys know of any 12" color TV/Monitor models I could be on the lookout for?

The only 12" color sets I remember were Sonys. They did
have a line of monitors IIRC model numbers start with CVM.
They would take composite input & maybe TTL. Very good
monitors.
13" is the standard size for SS TV's but over the yrs almost
all sizes were made.

The Sony 12" CRTs were 330AB22, 330CB22, and 330GB22, found in KV-12XX, CVM-12XX and PVM-12XX models. The CVM and PVMs are monitors, and the KV-12XX models are all TVs. 90 degree deflection on all, so the neck will be longer than the 110 degree 310-series CRT used by Tandy in the Model 4.

I had one of the Model 4's - I swapped it for a 2400 baud modem for my PC-XT clone in the late 80s. Wish I still had it
