Well the MSRP was $12,000. (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Plasma/PRO-800HD)

It'll make a good TV for you.

In my experience, any universal remote that has Pioneer TV codes should work.

I'm thinking that these early, very expensive plasma (and other designs.... perhaps PALC or EL?) are quite collectable, and fairly inexpensive now... sorta like CT-100s were 30-40 years ago. Anybody here making a serious effort to collect and preserve these early flat screen milestones?

I have a few 21" Fujitsu plasmas (a model that was introduced in 1993). I also have Pioneer's first 4:3 plasma from 1998 (working, but I'm looking for a better example), and I have Pioneer's first HD plasma from later in 1998 ($25,000 MSRP). I'm not sure if they'll ever be collectible, but I find them interesting.
