Radio (s)hack sold AM stereo tuners....By the time AM stereo came out aside from perhaps hobby kits there was not market for AM stereo adapters since most consumers were tech illiterate by then.

I know its not Pioneer.I found a Delco AM stereo/FM stereo cassette at the fleamarket years ago cheap.I modified it with line outputs before the volume control with coupling caps. I can direct feed my digital recorder with no overloaded signal.

I do enjoy those Super tuners they made.

a Marantz SR-940 that I've owned since new (Jan 1986). These receivers were manufacturedfrom 1984 to 1987 using the Motorola MC13020 C-Quam AM Stereo decoder chip. Note that the similar Marantz SR-440, SR-640, and SR-840 receiver modelswere designed for AM Stereo but were sold without the necessary AM Stereo decoder module installed. This module, called the "AMS40", could be purchased from a Marantz dealer in order to add true AM Stereo capability to these models. The SR-940 came in three colors: black, silver, and gold.
There are NO missing switches or knobs. It is working and complete. It also comes with two working RMC-40 remote controls, the original "Handbook of Instructions", and two gold Marantz warranty sheets. The only thing missing is the AM loop antenna. It has A and B switches for A channel and B channel speakers rated at 100w per channel.
The whole reason I purchased it was because it had the AM Stereo feature built-in. I remember listening to a local talk radio AM radio station at the time where they had the "liberals on the left" channel and the "conservatives on the right" channel. It really felt like I was sitting between to people on either side of me talking!
