Hi, I just picked up a nice Panasonic TR-001. However it did not come with the AC-Adapter. Is there a substitute, or does anyone know the pinout and voltage required to build your own? Panasonic PN is TY-196P

I dont have a manual for this beast but USUALLY by the plug there
is a drawing that shows polarity. Most had positive in center & neg
on the outside if it uses a round plug. Most were 12-13.8 VDC. 2
amps should more than cover it.
IIRC these could use built in batteries but they only lasted a few hrs.

IIRC it uses a proprietary 3-prong D-shaped plug which I believe is unobtainable except from used Panasonic (Matsushita) power supplies.

Thanks, I have attached a better picture of the plug, it is 3 prong. The side of the TV says 5V 1.7W, so I could hook up a 5V power supply if I knew the pinout.

Also, I posted this in the wrong forum, should probably be in "Transistor Portable Televisions"

Was able to rig up a 5V charger I had around the house. It works! Picture is a bit jittery, I would guess from the 40+ year old capacitors.

What kind of plug does the external antenna use? I tried 3.5mm and it is too big, while 2.5mm is too small...

The pin size and spacing on that power connector looks close to the 3 pin connector used on some old Dell and NEC laptops. They have a rectangular body, but perhaps one could be trimmed or moulded to fit.

I'm sure I've seen round bodied version as well, but on some off brand machine I never found the adapter for.

I tried a 5V 1A AC adapter I have around instead of the 5V 2A, and the picture actually seemed more stable. Shouldn't matter however, not sure why one works better than the other.
