Okay, got another question.

I have a Z-TAC remote, but it will not turn on my Zenith.

Does this need to be programmed or something?

The seller said it was new and it does look it. Put in a new J battery that works another remote so I know the battery is good.

Any ideas folks?

Ive never seen one. I think its for the Zenith cable
boxes, there were no Zenith cable systems in our area.
Only other thing is the ones with J batteries used to
grow a crystal on the terminals & they go intermitant.
IIRC Zenith universal remotes reverted to Zenith codes
when the battery went. I am sure someone has the answer.....

IIRC, they were only intended to operate the Zenith cable converter. They're rather old and didn't have the capability to be used for other applications.
The old converters had an A/C receptacle to control the on-off functions of the set.

Worked for someone's TV in this thread:

The remote works great with my old portable and my newer 1999 27" Zenith, whose remote I photographed next to the Z-TAC, to see how they have evolved over 20 years.

No matter what I do, it won't work any Zenith I have. That would be three sets.

The remote sure does look new. Very clean in and out.

Anyone wanna buy the remote?
