My 1986 RCA Color Trax seems to have a problem with the Horitonal and Vertical possibly. When I first turn the T.V. on I have a solid line that is on the far right of the picture tube. It then seems after it is on for awhile this goes away or just about does. However, at the top then going Horizontal there is a gap in the top of the picture tube. I can adjust it on the back but when I get the horizontal issue taken care of it then chops the writing off the bottom of the picture tube. The solid vertical line on the far right side is more noticable when flipping through channels and you come to a channel that isn't coming in. It is noticeable through the background gray of the picture tube.

First the line on the side. Your set is old & the electrolytics
are probably not up to snuff & the power supply is a tad low.
You can look for any of the following to improve it, you
set may or may not have them. Hoz centering, width,
also if you tweak the hoz hold it may help.

The other problem is also probably electrolytics.
To improve try vert size, vert lin, & vert centering.
The controls will interact so go back & forth to get
the best geometry.

Eventually you will have to track down the cause. A total
"recap" is foolish but fresh caps in the vert & power supply
may take care of all. Must haves are a good meter, a manual
& basic tools of course. A Variac is also a nice to have but
not a must have...........
