I picked this set up along with some other stuff from a local collector liquidating his collection.

Hard to image we had snow on the ground just a few months ago as it nears 100F today.

I got the Admiral 17T11, Philco 51-T1607 and VK106

The "tube room"

Here's what I picked out.

Seeing Sean's very nice recent acquisition (http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=258739) inspired me to pull it out for a closer look.

Ugly speaker situation. I assume the original field coil speaker is on the left with the cone missing.

I knew from my initial inspection that the set was missing all the knobs, back was missing, some work had been done to the chassis and the speaker was a mess.

Now let's take a closer look inside.

The chassis was held in my just two bolts. Here's the cabinet interior.

Chassis top view. Although it looks like some parts are missing, especially in the bottom left, that's is really how they made them.

I'd only seen this metal collar type of ion trap magnet on Zenith porthole sets before.

The tuner cover plates are missing and I have no idea what that hunk of black coax is all about.

Finally, here's what I found underneath. It's been recapped! At least partially anyway.

I'd hate to have to repair one of these tuners. What a mess!

I believe the focus control was remove from the top of the chassis and replaced with this rheostat.

Amazingly, it actually does produce a raster, but no video or sound.

I fear it's going to take a lot of work (and luck) to fully restore this set so I'm going to keep it on the back burner for now.
