I received a package from England today and I was so excited about it that I want to share with every one here. I've recently begun to search out "pre-television" items to display in my collection to give a sort of timeline of the invention of television. The item at my doorstep today was an original copy of The Times from June 27, 1923. John Logie Baird took out an ad in the personals column of this paper searching for help in creating a working television.

Thanks!

Did Baird find an assistant? Did Frank write to Celia? Did Frank write to John? Drama!

I read an article years ago in first issue of Television News where the reporter writing the article was in Germany and started reading names in the phone book. He found a Paul Nipkow and decided to walk over to the house to see if maybe he was a relative of the inventor of mechanical television with 1884 patent. Anyway a lady answered and he asked her if she was related to Paul Nipkow. He said just a minute and retuened with Paul Nipnow the inventor who gave an interview to the reporter.

That's a cool ad! I wonder if anyone actually answered it. And think... someone would have to sit down with pen and paper and actually write a letter to respond! Wow... talk about dark ages! :D
