OK Baby Moto lovers. There is on our "favorite" auction sight what looks like a very early VT-71. From what I can see, it is the one with the 7F8 mixer oscillator tube.
It also appears to have the 6KV big cans above and below chassis!
What a critter for someone here to tackle!

Serial #2932. Ha! I still have it beat at 2425, but it's cool to see another with this early design :)

Also, my cabinet is different. It's walnut with no capped holes at the front hiding recessed screws.

BTW there's also an early TS-4F version for sale (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-VINTAGE-MOTOROLA-GOLDEN-VIEW-TABLE-TOP-TV-SMALL-SCREEN-MODEL-VT-71M-A-/290911202167).

Man, that is nice. I sure wish I'd go into an attic and find a cool tv someday. That thing looks like it hasn't been touched in decades.

EDIT: It's also been sold, for $199.00 Anyone here get it?

I wonder if those are really the originals knobs ? They look like they came from a blonde set.

Bob, I have one blonde set and four mahogany sets. Those "butterscotch" knobs are most likely from a blonde set. For that matter, they are rather scarce and the set would be a good one to pick up for spares, especially the knobs.
No, I am not going to bid on it!

I thought somebody was still making repro screen gaskets...?

No, not anymore. He said they were too much of a hassle to produce.
