View Full Version : Whats your most used set? josephdaniel 03-28-2013, 06:04 PM Just trying to start some friendly discussion here. So what is your most used B&W set in your collection? ggregg 03-28-2013, 06:28 PM This one, and it's still working fine with no repairs after at least 75 hours of playing time on it. The yoke is a little crooked though. josephdaniel 03-28-2013, 07:16 PM Is that one of the sets where the screen folds down into the case? cwmoser 03-28-2013, 07:43 PM Most played B&W TV - my 1948 Philco 48-2500 projection TV: David Roper 03-28-2013, 07:49 PM Funny thing that you should start this topic today. The set I use the most other than during winter is my 9TW333 http://tvontheporch.com/images/img_5716_500x416.jpg ...which is the actual 'TV on the porch'. I had occasion to show it off today and the weather was so nice I decided to leave it on and enjoy it for a while. My other restored sets are used on a rotating basis, with the Admiral console probably getting the most use. Both because it's a relatively recent restoration and because the picture could not be sharper. http://tvontheporch.com/images/admi_2_171x250.jpg Phil Nelson 03-28-2013, 08:26 PM I love them all to death, and each one gets a turn from time to time, but most recently used this winter has been the DuMont RA-113, mainly because of where it's situated. Doesn't it get bugs, mice and stuff inside it? and I thought that it was bad for CRT's to be exposed to extremes of temperatures?? wa2ise 03-29-2013, 09:25 AM http://www.videokarma.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=177310&d=1356051609 I don't do a lot of TV watching, but this one gets fired up most often. ggregg 03-29-2013, 11:39 AM Is that one of the sets where the screen folds down into the case? Yes it is. I really should recap at least part of it but it works so good, cool cans, everything. decojoe67 03-29-2013, 01:39 PM I love using my '40's sets, but my "worker" is my 10" 1957 Admiral. It plays absolutely as new. There's nothing like watching a classic TV show or movie on these vintage sets! http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m554/decojoe67/DSC00317_zps7ca9e006.jpg stromberg6 03-29-2013, 04:45 PM I love them all to death, and each one gets a turn from time to time, but most recently used this winter has been the DuMont RA-113, mainly because of where it's situated. Phil Nelson Phil's Old Radios http://antiqueradio.org/index.html http://antiqueradio.org/art/DuMontRA-113Finished.jpg Drop-dead gorgeous, Phil! Ingrid's cute, too. Kevin:D decojoe67 03-29-2013, 04:55 PM I have to include the jewel of my collection, my '46 RCA 621TS. I use it a little more sparingly than some of others, but watching that small screen in that art-deco cabinet is always a treat! http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/m554/decojoe67/DSC00327_zps2ab9ab38.jpg radiotron 03-29-2013, 04:58 PM Is that one of the sets where the screen folds down into the case? yes it it is i have one too. radiotron 03-29-2013, 04:59 PM my most used it a 1959 zenith with the 16e21 chaissis, built like a tank. bandersen 03-29-2013, 06:30 PM I rotate mine too, but overall I'd say this Admiral 24A12 sees the most use. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5262/5604888225_5ae905c19e_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70039806@N00/5604888225/) http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5190/5605430948_0f71283cc3_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70039806@N00/5605430948/) dieseljeep 03-29-2013, 07:21 PM my most used it a 1959 zenith with the 16e21 chaissis, built like a tank. I've been following these threads closely. Did the dual phasing diode correct the problem with the horizontal hold? :scratch2: decojoe67 03-29-2013, 10:14 PM I rotate mine too, but overall I'd say this Admiral 24A12 sees the most use. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5262/5604888225_5ae905c19e_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70039806@N00/5604888225/) http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5190/5605430948_0f71283cc3_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/70039806@N00/5605430948/) Beautiful Admiral Bob! I had my chance to get one and passed years ago:tears: It's one of the coolest looking vintage TV's of all time - and you just can't beat an Admiral! Adam 03-30-2013, 01:04 PM Lately my most used b/w set is this 1966 Zenith 19". truetone36 03-30-2013, 09:41 PM Mine is a little G.E. portable from about 1960-61. The original owner used it on his workbench in the garage till he passed away, and I got it from the estate sale (which I worked at) for $20. It works like new. Doug E. 03-30-2013, 11:50 PM Mine is the 16" Zenith portable shown in my avatar. It's a "Discoverer", model L1615L from 1963. cbenham 03-31-2013, 03:52 PM I rotate mine too, but overall I'd say this Admiral 24A12 sees the most use. My favorite is an Admiral 19A12 electrostatic set I restored. It always gets looks of disbelief when I turn it on and a picture appears within a minute, fully locked, stable and in focus! Dan Starnes 03-31-2013, 04:20 PM This Philco, for about 3 or 4 years I guess, great performer and I have it in our living room. I also use the phono and listen to the AM radio. Oh, and that isnt really a pic of my Philco lol. |
