A Clifton popped up last week on Craigslist here in Phila. The page is gone but I have the pix. By the time I found it the seller had two other lookers and then the page went dead. $495 was the price. Per ETF it is #5.

Great looking example of that unique set. That is an early RA102-B1 model without the focus control that was later added between the two top controls. The model was then updated to RA102-B2.

I hope it went to a good home. That set is at the top of my bucket list. Maybe someday...

It sure would be interesting to take a look around the rest of that house. I just have a real curiosity about the kinds of places these rare old sets surface from. :yes:

It might almost be worthwhile putting a wanted "Dumont Clifton" add in the same Craiglist section with a $$$ offer hoping the new owner would let it go for a profit.

I think I would swap 90 % of my collection for a DuMont like this or another good working set of that era, BUT one of moderate size and weight. Had an RA-109A years ago and had to give it to a collector in Richmond, VA. It was just too much, but one of the most interesting pieces of electronics engineering that I have ever seen or owned.

I really don't understand the slant back design of the CRT. Seems like an uncomfortable viewing angle for such a largish console. To me it looks more like a studio monitor than a home set.
