Hello,

I just picked up a GE 16T1 set from somebody's trash today - in fine physical shape. Before committing to restoration, I'd like to have the CRT checked. I could bring it down to the TV repair place (Tony Max), but they want $40 for it.

Is there somebody else in the Eastern Massachusetts area that could do a check for me for a little less than that? I really don't intend to get into TV restoration as a hobby, and thus not really looking to buy a CRT checker.

I have already compiled the data for a CR70 checker.

Thanks!

It's a darned shame that a TV repair shop would charge you $40 to check a tube! On the flip side though, I guess they are doing anything that they can to stay in business in a throw away, and now flat screen world. I really can't imagine what they do for work.

Say, who's Tony Max? I live in Central Mass., and haven't been able to find someone to repair sets since Tom Romano unexpectedly passed away. Does anyone in Mass. know someone close who could do some work? I have a 16" porthole that's starting to tire.
