I need ONE .1 @ 1000vdc electrolytic cap for the B&K 440 CRT tester we're using on my Zenith 19AP4A roundie. Evilbay wants to sell you a dozen. I tried mouser, Radio Daze, Just Radios, Ant. Electronic Supply, Allied and others. Does anyone have one new one they'd sell me so we can move on with this project? Thanks! Steve

.1 film cap I presume, not electrolytic IIRC, its one of those ceramic tubed shaped caps.

One isn't likely to cost much, and most places have buying minimums. Suck it up, and sell the rest you don't need on here.

I would consider just trying a non-electrolytic in the unit and see what results you get.

A .1 would almost certainly be a film cap?
I have some .01@1600 but no .1.

Did you assume an electrolytic due to the size?

I've never worked on a B&K 440, but the 350 and 400 in the same series use a .1 mfd 1000v wax paper capacitor for burning out shorts, and that capacitor is always found defective. The electrolytic in those units is a 5 mfd 250v, and it is physically smaller than the wax paper one. The less expensive B&K 420 uses an .01 mfd ceramic and no electrolytic.

Just Radios lists a .1 mfd 1600v Orange Drip for $2.99, a 2K v one for $4.99, a .1 mfd 1000 volt Tubular Axial Met'd Poly Film for $1.49 or a pair of .047 mfd 1600v disc ceramics for $.99 each. Any of the above should work for this very non critical application.

Of course, there still is the minimum order.
