I think the price *may* be a little steep on this one.

If this a '72 model would it be a 4-tube hybrid Chromacolor or CCII? It looks newer to me.

Yeah, if he gets the price down to around $50, he might have a chance.

This is not a hybrid. It's not even a CCII. The fact that it has a built in space phone tells me that it's a system 3 from the '79-early '80's time period.

There were versions of this cabinet used with everything from the vertical chromacolor II chassis up through various generations of the system 3 chassis. AFAIK, this cabinet style didn't come along until the mid '70's; so, vacuum tubes were done by then.

I've actually had a few of these over the years. I never paid more than $10 for any one of them. The last one I had was a 9-160 based system 3 that was a donation by the local Zenith shop, who was about to toss it. I don't know if lightning got it or if the 9-160 module simply burned up; but, that module was fried to a crisp. I ended up junking the set.

That "Space Phone" option seems nifty!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that "Space Phone" was not on the market in 1972. I don't think that or the "Zoom" feature came out until the System 3 in the late late 70's.

Yea its a system 3, I found 2 of them out on the street with bad crts. I took the boards, speakers and degaussing coil out and put the rest in the dumpster. Not rare and not worth anything.
What does one of these in the henry ford museum have to do with anything? I can see mentioning the rca at Graceland but a plastic system 3 at henry ford..?

Saw this on ebay and I think it's priced just a tad too high.

I got the same response. I see those all the time around here. Nothing special about them. You can't hardly give them away. If someone is stupid enough to pay that price, they deserve it! :)

But he detailed it and everything. Certainly that makes it worth that much. :screwy:

Lets get one of the astronauts on the space station to do a Buy It Now. At least they will get their money's worth on the delivery! :)

If the price of scrap keeps going up it might be a good deal....after all the internal workings are made of gold. How else could anything way that much?!

Yah- Like that guy with the $500. picture tube that has been relisted 20 times this year. I think this guy should keep relisting his frige until it sells. Is there a guinnis record for most outa-touch price on ebay? or most relisted?
