I haven't seen this set before. Large CRT. Bakelite.

I recall seeing a similar tabletop Admiral at a local thrift shop. I think this is a tabletop set too and it's just siting on a base. It does seem to fit well though so maybe that base is original :scratch2:

I think your right. On closer examination of the pics, especially from the back, it looks like two pieces. Looks like they go together but none the less two pieces. Also it's not all bakelite. The base is wood.Not that all that are bad thing it would sure be easier to ship as two pieces instead of one.

I think it was built in late 1954, as a 55 model.
