I don't know what make that set is, but the timeframe is definitely correct. Also, I would bet my bottom dollar that it is well worth grabbing if possible for somebody here and would make a great restore. At first glance I thought that it was one of those table models that came with a matching table/base, but that is not the case. The set looks to be a long legged floor model. It's in Hollywood so you would think that there would be an outlet for people with old oddities to market to the TV and movie industry; perhaps not. I sure would like to look around in the storage rooms on the Universal lot! the History channel should send the American Pickers guys out there! LOL! I guess they already have a huge enough stockpile of props, and if not they probably just contact Harry Poster! However, I have seen quite a few movies where many of the household goods were off period; especially TVs and cars. I guess as time moves on, the prop people get younger and younger, and the knowledge of period items gets narrower and narrower when it comes time to duplicate the past.

Philco, I'd grab it but I've taken enough time off work lately.

It sure looks like a Philco 49-1040. Here's the one I'm restoring (http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=248852).

Took a quick look at it with the sencore and the 10bp4 crt is in good shape. Will definitely look into bandersen's restoration as the cabinet needs a bit of work. Back to the teletone

Sweet! The top doesn't look too bad so I hope you don't need to re-veneer it like I did.

Interesting, that one does not have the flip-down panel in front like mine does, either.
