Here's a September, '79 23" Zenith CCII that uses the 23LC45Z chassis. This was actually made for the 1980 model line and was the very last CCII chassis. If you'll notice on the control door, it only says "Zenith". There is no "solid state chromacolor II" text like what's on the older ones. I've seen the exact same cabinet and control layout on a 9-160 based system 3 set and I suspect these last CCII's were a way to get rid of existing CCII parts. This set has no HV.

Hey at least everything is easy to get to. I'm having issues removing the motherboard and getting to any of the caps on my Zenith from 1972.

I found a problem. The primary winding on the horizontal driver transformer is open. I have a junk chassis with a good part; but, it was getting too late tonight to work on it. Maybe I'll have it going by this time tomorrow.

The horizontal driver transformer was the problem. I'll post some pictures later.

Every so often I think why do I keep all these junked tv guts, reading a story like this makes me wish I'd tried to grab more.

i always thought the 23 inch crt was the best one.saw more than a few and when you set them side by side, the picture is a little brighter and sharper.i have had several of these zenith sets and they all had good pictures but i ve havent found a 23 inch model yet.they are all still being used!
