I got this set a few weeks ago from Michigan. First, I need the actual Sam's for the set.
I don't have it.
Next, here's the dilema.....
It's dirty inside, given.
I openned up hv cage to look inside....
Oh, oh!
First, the Damper had virtually had a partial melt down.
It's definately dammaged......
Besides the usual dirt, and, dust inside, there is some oily substance all over nearly everything, including flyback, hv wiring, and a 1 watt resistor caccross from 1X2 to the other.
The cage is missing several screws.
This is definately an indication of hv problems.
Could it mean flyback failure?
Why was damper having a melt down?
Could it have dammaged the flyback?
What the heck is the oily substance?
If I need a flyback, yoke, lin. coil, what can I do about that?
Would bad caps on damper cause the melt down?
I'm also noticing several burned B+ resistors, but, this may not be related. One cardboard filter under the chassis has spat electrolyte.
It's a nice set, with an above average conditon wise cabinet.
The picture tube is known good up to being moved here. I haven't checked it since receiving the set, but, I have an extra in stock.
It's a 16GP4.
Thanks.

The plain Motorola got junked. It was a basket case. The fancy one is the Stromberg Carlson.
This picture was taken by my friend Bill a couple of years ago. His girlfriend stored it for me in her garage until he was able to deliver it to me a couple months ago. The original owner lived in Warren, Michigan.
