Hello, I'm thinking of buying one of these, but doesn't have the manuals, i've never used one before, so is it worthless without it? I have an old tv the needs testing of the picture tube

I can scan the manual for you. I think several other member have one too. I hope you have the adapters - especially the universal adapter. You'll need that for most old CRTs.

it says this

Includes: The beam builder, power chord, univrsal adapter 39G170, e3896 STYLE 2464 CABLE,

This is going to be used on a late 60s motorola quasar, and 70s and 80s television sets too, but mainly the motorola quasar for now, i'll worry about the other sets another time.. Let me know if I'll be good to go..

Thanks..

Sorry, I don't know. I've only used it on pre 1952 CRTs and the universal adapter covered them all. I do know there are at least 4 adapter pods - most have a different socket on either side. I suspect the CRTs from the 60s-80s will not use the universal adapter.

If you can give me some CRT model #s, I'll look them up and check.

Heres a pic of the tags, couple of numbers..

OK. That's a 25ZP22 and you'll need adapter #2. I believe a complete set is #1 thru #10. I only have 5,6 and 7.

i'm looking at this auction and looks to be no #2.. Also i just located another auction and also has the same exact adaptors, and that auction says complete with all adapters. Are you sure its a #2?

That sure looks like a complete set of adapters to me. See how they're labeled 1&2, 3&4 ? There's a socket on either side of the adapter so that makes ten plus the universal adapter in the upper-left.

oh ok got you...

Now I wonder if i should trust the auction. Not fully tested..I don't know how these things are reliable, most auctions i'm looking at all say sold as is and most of them say they just did a power on test

I don't know about their reliability either. All I know is I got mine untested off ebay and it works fine :)

I just bought this one in the link for $125 including the shipping. They say it came from a school auction.. I'm hoping it works..

Now will the CRT have to be discharged before using this tester/rejunvinator?

No, but you should discharge it if you ever need to go anywhere the HV lead or flyback.

When I bought my CR70, the seller told me all the adapters were missing. Having never seen or used one before, I just took his word for it. I made up my own UA and eventually scored a few real adapters.

Just now, I stumbled across this listing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sencore-CR70-Universal-CRT-Analyzer-Restorer_W0QQitemZ160487550983

I had no friggin' idea there was a secret compartment in the lid

Lookie what I found lurking in mine :D
Guess I got a better deal than I realized - only the 3&4 is missing.

ok, thanks for your help bandersen....

Good luck. If you hadn't got me looking, I never would have realized I had more adapters hiding under that lid!

That's good you have most adapters now... I kinda figured those compartments were hidden, I would have probably done the same and not realized it, if i didn't see pictures neither..

They should have put a sticker on that lid. One of my manuals has a yellow addendum sheet that says (among other things) THE ADAPTERS ARE IN THE LID.

Don't feel bad. When I received mine I knew about the lid and used the universal adapter. The next time I went to use it I search everywhere trying to find where I put the adapters having forgotten about the lid! About two days later I finally remembered...

Does anyone think this is better or about the same as the B&K 470?

If anyone can supply a pin out for the universal adapter I would appreciate it. I bought one of the units talked about in this post and it said the 3G170 adapter was included but it was not there. Thanks

Here's some info (http://www.bobandersen.com/manuals/sencore/cr70/) on the universal adapter Phil Nelson scanned for me. I created an adapter using some J-clips.
I haven't scanned my manual yet, but I'll let you know when I do.

It turns out my manual is glued into the case! So, I just took some pictures rather than scan it.

I've done the first 10 pages which covers instructions and CRTs up to 12DPC22.
