Compton was once rated No1 nicest place to live in the US. Its only a few miles from me so its a thought. I do love these old rcas.

That's a CTC-40 or 44! Those are fairly rare, and that's in nice shape too.

Compton has a bad rep, but let me tell anyone concerned, that it's no more or less safe than Canoga Park, or Van Nuys, or nowadays, even Redondo Beach. Lots of hi-tech industry there now, and unless you go hang out in the county housing projects in a new, expensive vehicle, you'll be fine.

I put it in my watch list, and hope that someone will go rescue that set!

That CRT doesn't look too good from the outside.

just a cat, either you get that or green. most set of that era will have that problem. Can be fixed.

Forget what I said earlier - I e-mailed the seller and the model is GL748F, which is a CTC-40 from 1969. Definitely worth saving.

I think the cabinet is hideous, but it does look high quality if you like that style.

I've had that model, and it's HEAVY. That's the only RCA (newer than the late 1949s) console that I've seen with a real, solid wood cabinet. Not laminated veneer, but a 3/4" thick slab of wood on top. It was definitely a high-end flagship model.

*Thanks Andy for clarifying on the 44 vs 40... I couldn't remember which chassis mine had. It was indeed a 23V.

GRRR, I just missed it. Was driving to work and it finished while the computer was booting up.
