Anyone know what the proper remote was/is for a 1984 RCA Colortrac 2000, model #FKC 20235? I have a universal that does Power, Channels, and Volume. It looks like there's at least a clock that needs to be set, maybe more?

Sorry I don't know - you should post this in the rectangular forum.

I don't know the part number, but it's a fairly large square hand unit with a smoked plastic pop-off cover for VCR controls. The clock and channel programming is under a secret cover that is HARD to snap off at the top front of the unit (use two thumbs to press the cover down & away from you, while holding the remote). If yours is the Dimensia version, it also has buttons for stereo, CD deck, etc. The remote on my wife's 19" RCA is very similar, and in fact may be the same as for yours. You can barely see it sitting on top left of the tv in this pic:

Rats! I saw a similar remote at the TS recently, but I passed because of the VCR controls... I wrongly assumed VCRs didn't have wireless remotes in '84. I should have remembered that I bought our first Beta recorder in '83 specifically because it had a wireless remote. It cost $700, while they were still selling wired remote models for < $500.

I went back yesterday but it was gone. :tears:

I had a ctc-121 colortrak with a similar huge remote center.... I'm not sure if this info is of any use to you, but the composite video inputs went through the tuning system--channels 91-92-93 (A1-A2-A3) enabled them to be used...And I recall having great difficulty figuring out how to set the onscreen clock

These are some of my alltime favorite sets...the mid 80s high-end RCAs. You don't see too many around my way, even though they were pretty good in the reliability dept.
