Found this at am estate sale this morning along with some other old sets.

Im mostly into the 60s stuff. Its all there and kinda in mint condition.
Can anyone tell me about this? What does it take to get these going besides a ton of caps replaced, how do they perform etc.

It has channel 1

It's a 1946 model, RCA's first post war set along with the 621TS, it's a very desirable set!

Usually replacing the caps will get it going.
They are one of the best performing sets of their time, very sharp and stable.

Is that serial number C001035? if it is that's the lowest serial number I've ever seen on one of these, they seem to be intermixed with the 621 serial numbers so some 621's have numbers in the 20,000's with a run of only 17,000.

I've never seen one with a number below 1000 so I wonder if they started there?

Edit: it has the wrong knobs, the channel selector is correct but the other knobs are from a later model, the correct RCA Peanut knobs are easy to find though being as RCA made zillions of them.

This article describes how I restored my 630TS. Service manual & schematic is included:

You should enjoy it when it's restored. A nice performer, as Eric noted.
