View Full Version : How to Enjoy Your General Electric Color TV old_tv_nut 09-02-2010, 07:44 PM 1965 user instructions JB5pro 09-02-2010, 10:35 PM It's funny it has a rectangular on the cover but a roundie inside. I think GE did not have a color rectangular screen for '65. I was told that servicemen considered those GE's to be junk even when new but I imagine they had a good picture. I would love to have a GE roundie now, especially a remote control set. wa2ise 09-02-2010, 10:48 PM Wow, lifetime warranty coverage for the etched circuit board (excluding the parts). So what is the "lifetime"? Wonder if GE would make good on a claim today? :scratch2: :D JB5pro 09-02-2010, 11:42 PM Seems like somebody discussed that before. Would they not have to honor that? Did those boards in the roundies have Compactrons? I suppose the warranty only covers the original owner but what if the descendants still have the set? I wish somebody here could make a claim to get GE to put new circuit boards in a roundie. bgadow 09-03-2010, 11:48 AM There is an old thread buried on here. It would take a Philadelphia lawyer to tell you where to start...possibly with whoever it is that owns RCA now (Audiovox?) Probably something in the contract where GE sold the consumer electronics lines to Thomson which spells out who is responsible for prior liabilities. If you pushed hard enough maybe they'd give you something cheap from the 2010 RCA catalog. When did the Portacolor go into production? I know the first ones were '66 models, but did they start making them in '65?
