picked up local today, VERY ruff, but for 30$ figured I would gamble on the CRT being ok. looks like a CTC-7 (they have the vert chassis right?) in a metal cabinet. All rusty blah blah blah.

Looks to be pretty much all there from 1st glance, convergence yoke looks goofed up some, but the neck on the crt is there and the socket looks to be unbroken.

I will put some loose juice on the socket to loosen it up and test later.

Looks like the same chassis my '9 has...

That is a CTC 9, notice that the power transformer does not have the two rectifier tubes. This is the Boswell model. Nice set, especially for thirty bucks! That thing will clean up nicer than you think. I hope the CRT is good, even if not it was worth every penny.

Frack, red gun filament not lighting up. B and G are fine with good emissions and cut off.

oh well, guess it become a dud for some future rebuild if that ever become possible. I will hang on to the chassis in case I ever come into a CRT.

I can see the filament leads are both intact, but I can tell how they hook up I assume there is a weld that ties all of them together. I tried tapping the neck to see if there was a loose connection but nothing.

pulled the chassis, not too bad but pretty rusty. The fly did not appear to be cooked. removed the CRT and glass, rinsed out all the rust and loose carp inside. Its drying now. I may remove the mask, and then put all the rest up in the attic. the heat would be hard on the mask.

I will prob end up going over the chassis and testing it with the dead red gun CRT. I can at least get it running and will have a good chassis.

Oh well at lest the yoke checked out.

One of my 21FJP22's had a dead filament; careful tapping with a screwdriver handle eventually brought it to life, and it has been reliable so far.

well there is hope then, I will give that a try

roger that Andy.

never seen a potted powr tranny. its getting put aside for a while, last on the list, got the zentih combo console and a RCA CTC-17 combo console infront of it. Still have the RCA CTC-16 to find a cabinet for as well, it was a wood console with the speaker mounted on the bottom, termites ate it up.

That 16 was my 1st color set and has a very nice pic but for the cat, but I suspect it will just fall off when I do pull the crt it is so bad.

I was excited about this one since it did not have the saftey glass at all just the plate glass in the front.

I was thinking of just upping the voltage via the CR-70 sencore crt checkter, then tapping/shaking/vibrating the crt (with a blast shield on).
