I haven't got much use out of my big CRTs since the 42" LCD arrived, so it's time to reduce the number by one. Any opinions as to quality or longevity?

Sony KV-27S22 from 1997. Mexican Trinitron, couple chips out of the screen. I had to resolder the flyback when I got it but it's worked fine. No S-video.

Panasonic CT-2786VYD from 1999. Billed as a TV/pro monitor. Has high/low in/out via BNC plugs, plus S-video. Haven't used this one much in the basement.

I'm leaning towards keeping the Pana since it has more features and might be more durable.

I'd go with the Panasonic, too.

Yep, the Panasonic will last a long time. Those were good sets. The Sony's were nice but had a lot of problems that show up as they age.

I vote for the Panasonic. The Sony's produced a good picture; but, I've seen a fair amount with weak CRT's, bad flybacks, and loose connections that will take out other parts.

Thanks. Just hooked up both for the first time in a while and noticed the Panasonic has a mild 60hz hum from the speakers. Filter caps?
