Here's one set you can ship anywhere without worrying about breaking the picture tube.

That is a set I've wanted for a long time but I still wouldn't want to ship it being Bakelite and all.

The only problem is , is that Fed Ex would screw the rest of the set up just as bad ...

Nice set otherwise , the starting bid is out there though ....

Interesting set. I just got an Emerson 637A that was local pickup. The drive was very pleasant and took just a little over an hour. Nice to see the set in the back seat of the car and it arrived safely to my home because I was the shipper! Yes, that would be a nice one to restore...

If you can't get the real thing, you can always buy one of the banks. Regularly seen on eBay.

As much as we hate it when somebody turns a neat old tv into a fishtank or cat box, I can't help but think that the bank would look really good with a small LCD screen installed inside, displaying an actual picture. :nono:
I guess that would really irritate collectors of these items, but what is the screen size on the bank?

A local antique store has that bank right now, but it was just a little more than I wanted to pay. I think around $20. If I owned that set I guess I'd have to spring for it.

screen size on the bank?
1.75 x 1.5 inches -- too big for my Epson Elf!

I have this TV so I suppose I should get one of the banks too.
Here's the original ad.

Hmmmm, The Sony watchman FDL 22 is 2.2 inches diagonal :scratch2:

But I am thinking bad thoughts again! :nono:

That ad is awesome! I always figured the bank was a dealer promo item, since it says "Emerson Ultrawave Television" on the back. Banks encourage you to save up for that new TV, etc., although it would take a container more like a 1-gal. pickle jar to hold that much change.

I have never seen one with any of the other characters, only the clown. Unlike most miniatures, it's "anatomically correct," with Contrast-Off-Volume around the left knob and channel numbers around the right.
