A few weeks ago, a friend of mine gave me this set as it just sat in his basement. This is a 25-inch GNB174.18B with MTS stereo and it lacked video inputs. Though it does have an audio input can be switched to supplement the mono RF source, which is interesting.

This set does have a tuner issue (no reception on a direct feed and an odd, drift to gray condition noted in the photos). Was this a common occurrence with Magnavox/NAP sets of the mid-1980s? (I know, the wood-styled plastic bezel was a common occurrence too. :D)

Di you have any way to sub out the tuner?

I don't have a way, though I could be on the lookout for a tuner. This is my first NAP set.

See if you can get a part number. I have a little bit of that stuff laying around, though I tossed a lot of it.

I'll be on that when I get back home (which will be a long while, ugh).

Slipping this in: since it gradually drifts back and forth from gray to static, any idea if it could be electrolytic cap related? There was no evidence of lightning strike damage or burned components, though the set looks to have racked up a lot of hours. :scratch2:

The only tuner trouble I ever saw on that set (hope I remember right) was the PLL IC in the tuner.
That set has a fragile power supply so be careful. The vertical electrolytics give trouble so be sure to ESR them. If they get weak they will kill the IC which is hard to find.
