Hello, I finally got out of this joke of a town, North Bay for finding TVs and got to Belgrave, Ontatrio and picked up a bunch of TVs including a
1951, yes, a 1951 GE 17-inch console that has doors covering the TV
and the speaker grill has bars forming the look of a 12-pane window.
It's a retangular-tube. The cabinet is big enough to hold a 21-inch TV.
It's presumed non-working and those early retangular GEs are pretty hard
to find in any condition from 1951-52. It's also got a black steel back as well.
I paid $350 Canadian for it. It's either mahogany or walnut veener over solid wood.
Also-
RARE RARE-
1955-56
21-inch Marconi console w/swivel base which enitre TV swivels
1956-57
21-Inch Marconi table set in metal cabinet w/faux wood grain finish
1955-56
Westinghouse 21-inch console w/ripped speaker grill cloth
-this TV hasn't been used in at least 35 years!
1955-56
Westinghouse 21-inch console-missing knobs
-not used in over 35 years either
1957iish
Motorola 21-inch table set w/fake leather finish in metal cabinet.
See Retangular and Solid State for 2 more TVs I picked up today:thmbsp:
Ohhh, it's sooo great to get out of North Bay and get some real TVs:-)

Great to hear that a lot of Canadian made TVs are preserved (I assume that most of
these are are indeed Canadian made) Good luck with your projects!

Yes, most of these are Canadian-made TVs. I did hit a motherlode and I'm going back for more for the next 3-5 years as well. I know my secret Canadian source well-in a small hamlet called Belgrave in Southwestern Ontario well away from Rebuilt Resources where they can't get them, this info I'll never post in public-unless I mention it to people I know who will respect my TVs and my work. That's a lot of TVs in my happy future:thmbsp:
I hope Maureen Brazeau dosen't have access to Audiokarma or these forums:tresbon: It's about a 5-hour drive from North Bay ro Belgrave:-)
