I mentioned this TV before, but it's been sitting for most of the winter. Now I'm trying to fix it, because a newer RCA I had hopes for turned out to be unsalvagable for me, and I could use a TV.

The TV turns on and gets channels just fine. However there is no color in the picture. No color on the video inputs either. Judging just from the black and white picture, the CRT is nice and strong. Also, it displays channel numbers on the screen, and those numbers are green.

Here's a picture of the schematic. I *think* the issue is in the area i circled in red.

I've messed with the chroma input level and the colorsync screw a bit, but no luck.

Oh great! C818 is a DISC CAP! >-(

No wait, C818 is the colorsync coil...

EDIT: this might work out, as I have another CTC 120 that works fine. It's a 19 inch, so I might cannabilize it for parts...

Try turning C818 before you replace it. I've seen a few sets where turning it would bring the color back.

I messed with turning the original C818 that was in there. Even removed it and lubricated it with a bit of WD40. Nothing.

So I took the C818 out of the 19 inch TV... EXACT same coil. hell, exact same chassis minus a card or two. BINGO! That did it!

So a sacrificed my 19 inch TV to save its 25 inch big brother. That suits me just fine, as this one has video input, and a larger screen.

PS: is this a renote capable set? I know they existed in 1984 as I have a Mitsubishi from that same year that works with my universal remote.

Yes, that should be a remote set.

Yes, that should be a remote set.

Even better, since its little brother isn't.

Well, I have it set up in my room. It's definitely remote capable.

Say, is there an adjustment for the horizontal position of the raster? My TV's raster is just a bit too far to the left. It cuts off some stuff on the screen's left side, and I can see the edge of the raster on the right side.
