OK, yeah, its a Porta-Potty, I know, but it looks to be a 1960s version, & they ARE getting old, & it DOES work, as is typical for a Porta-Color. Not mine, no affiliation, just passing along info. Item #380086350269. We all tend to make fun of these little guys, but I kinda think most of us have soft spots for 'em, too...And in '66 or so, they were The Business...

Dammitt...Next to last # is a "6" instead of a "5"....Why does You-Know-Who HAVE to use such long numbers anyway ?

When I went looking with the wrong number I never found the set, but did find some interesting things (besides the shirt!)

While walking Yeller-dawg this morning I saw where one the neighbors up the hill had set three TV's out by the curb. Two of them were 80's era Sears junk, but one was a little 15" (?) 70's GE Portacolor in a walnut plastic cabinet. Real cute and appeared to be in great shape with the telescope and bowtie antennas still intact. Just my luck, by the time I got back, it (and the others) were gone. :tears:

And unfortunately they were most likely picked by some fellow who will
yank out the deflection yokes for copper recovery...

The Sears were likely good sets too..... Sanyo or Warwick built and last forever.

I think the Portacraps last so long since they utilize very simple designs.

That and the over-sized guns in the CRT, they are the same as a much larger tube. BTW, where is the set the thread is about? I don't see a link for it, just all kinds of other crap!:D

Never learned how to do that either. I use the HPS (Hunt, Peck,Swear) system...

zenithfan, I google'd the item number in the original post and found it.

The large guns theory is more correct, you're right. The phosphor looks like it was cut down from a 21" tube also,...

Hey! That is the seller I got my avatar from!! He is cool, his name is Steve. He won't rip anyone off. It was a 1200 mile round trip to his house from mine. Very nice house and neighborhood too. Overland Park is great! Just don't try to eat anywhere on sun. everything is closed except "Bob Evans" restaurant.

These seem to be the most valuble color TVs after the roundies. Too bad I took mine apart when I was a kid, it was an original TV that was in the family too and it worked!!!!

It always amazes me how many variations GE made. I don't think I've ever seen two identical Portacolors. How many Portacolor models did they make?

This one happens to look identical to my Portacolor (also working, see the Show Poracolor thread). I think they probably refreshed the look of them every couple of years.
