i finally found a sylvania superset e-48! craigslist basement find.cabinet is reasonable and it works with weak crt.i have a couple of 25vs-one zenith from a chromacolor with a shot cabinet and a vdc i have lugged around for over 15 years.these 70 s sets are interesting to me.paid 20 dollars with delivery.the 25vdmp22 wouldn t come up on the beltron so it will be swapped. some damage to top of cabinet.not sure about this one.photo finish looks very tough to fix. at least that search is over. i ve got a superset!

Glad you found one. Is that one of those sets from the late '70's with electronic tuning and a red LED channel readout? I'm sure it will look fine with that Zenith tube installed.

I have a Sylvania from around 1980 or so, not sure if this is a "Superset" or not. Does yours like like this one?

That photo is a newer set; has an inline tube. The great 25VDM black face is in the first SuperSets from appx the mid 70s to maybe 1979.

Sounds like a nice TV. Photo-finish can be great when it was cared for, but when it wasn't....sucks. Snap us a shot of it when you get a chance.

I was going through my Sams and found out there was also a 21" Sylvania table model that uses the E48 chassis. The set has IR remote control, electronic tuning and a 21VBHP22 delta gun CRT. The chassis does have a rather hefty power transformer. The Sams is 1996 from 6/81. I'm sure this was one of the last table model sets with a delta gun CRT and a "built like a tank" chassis. This set would probably be a rare find today.

EDIT: I wonder if the E48 was carried over after Philips took over.

had one of those in the late 80s. crt was weak and i jolted it a couple times. it held up for the better part of a year before it died. traded it to a local repair man for parts.it was built like a tank though, except for crt.those old gray face tubes seemed to hold up much better. still got one from a d-16 slide control set that tests strong.that 25vdmp22 was pretty to watch, just didnt hold up well.

Congrats on finding the set you wanted.
It's easy to find them when you don't want them but when you do they all disappear!

Boy, you hit the nail on the head. When I was a teenager, I used to bring tube and early SS sets home on a regular basis. They were just something for me to learn on and to sell if I got one working. Now, the only sets that are very common are BPC crap from the past few years.
