My 10" Admiral 20X1 chassis set flyback transformer burned up yesterday as I was watching a flash gordon serial. The Admiral part number is 79C23-3. Can anybody direct me to a source for flyback transformers either used or new? Thank you.

The 1981 Thordarson TV replacement parts guide gives FLY 1 as
a substitute for this part, but I don't know whether this is available
somewhere. Good luck.

Konrad,

I have this used flyback from a Stromberg Carlson TV12M which I think would work for you. It is untested, except that I ohmed out the winding and they are continuous. If you are interested, it is yours for the cost of shipping. PM or email me.

Thanks for a used Stromburg Carlson flyback transformer sent to me by John Folsom my set is back is business running with a nice bright picture. I certainly appreciate John's help and the other forum members who volunteered information. For a 60 year old set it is amazing to me to find such a specialized part.

This is why AK is great. Well, one of the reasons. Good people, good parts, and many an amazing success story to be read! Glad to hear that set's running again. :thmbsp::thmbsp:

I was watching Twilight Zone marathon on my 1948 Admiral chassis 30X1 (also 10" screen) when my flyback started arcing. The Sam's says Admiral part79B7 or Stancor A-8117, but this thread leads me to believe there are other choices out there like HV0-3, FLY-1, and the Stromberg Carlson alternate.
Any help appreciated as the set works great up until the flyback started arcing.
I'm out of Corona Dope, and I don't think it would help in this case.
Thanks,
John

Can you post the Admiral Part number? I have some flybacks, but no the ones you have listed.

On my 20A1 the arcing was from the donut to the 1B3 filament leads. Replaced filament winding and moved it away from the donut and it been working fine.

I do not show to have that particular flyback. Moyers might be a place to try.

No, that's why VK is great. :thmbsp:

I couldn't find my post anywhere on the site so I'm trying again.
I"m better at fixing TV's than using these sites.
Is the same flyback used in the 20x122 as in my 30A1 chassis?

My Thordarson replacement guide gives FLY-1 for both these sets. The FLY-1 is the same flyback used in many 10 and 12 inch round screen sets from the 1940s. You should be able to find a used replacement in an old chassis. Someone here at VK probably has s spare NOS or used one.
