To paraphrase: the ad description, "Here is the Tv from my grand parents place, one of the first/finest? tv's i have seen from the 50's, It is a Marconi. It has always worked very well. (maybe something like has worked for 50 years?) It is a true antique audio-visual device."

Hi folks,

There is more than a language barrier here, there is a price barrier!
Obviously, this newbie on e..y does not want to part with the TV
set his/her parents bought in the fifties. He does indeed claim it
is still working even though it is over 50 years old. I bet this seller
will still have zero feedback on e..y in a year... But let's not start
a discussion on e..y feedback!

P.S.: I should have said grandparents instead of parents. Also, this
is a B&W set, so this discussion is in the wrong forum. I was told
(during a tour for new employees at Canadian Marconi in 1986) that
the company R&D labs had built a prototype color TV set around 1966,
but in that year it was decided that consumer electronics would
not be part of the future of the company. I would pay $750 or more
for that prototype!

As the second reply says, he didn't turn it into a fishtank. I'm at least glad he thinks it is worth so much! BTW, does it say "pickup only"? Let's drive to Canada for it! Yeah, I did put it in the wrong forum but I thought you'd all like to see it and perhaps think how much our "junk" is worth.

It doesn't say "pickup only", the guy appears to have some automatic quote
that gives about $136 for delivery to Montreal (some of you guys know
where Montreal is, right?), but picking it up would definitely be a fine idea
with such an inexperienced seller. If he could just relist with a more realistic
price...

Most Canadians speak French or English, a few speak both... The
seller of this TV misspells French as nicely as many Americans misspell
English!

Soooo...The guy screwed up in his e-bay listing. You guys act like a bunch of school yard bullies.
Pretty petty stuff. And in the wrong forum to boot.
