I like the look of this old TV.

Any idea what it is ?

It's offered very cheap, but a fairly long drive to pick it up.

Thanks. Snade

This is a Zenith System 3 from around 1983...some of the larger sizes of System 3 CRT's seem to go weak easily but the smaller sizes are usually good.

After some cleanup it'll probably look pretty good..I've had good luck with the trifocus inline crt's... my 25" 1979 system 3 is still running great and when i found it, it obviously was a heavily used tv.

I have a similar one I picked on the sidewalk, also from 1983 iirc. Works
fine with great color, only problem is that VHF tuner could use a good
cleaning. Cheers!

I've had those over the years and they all had good pictures. Some had the 9-160 power supply / HV module and the newer ones had a 9-186 for the HV module and a 9-181 for the main module. I think the 9-160 version is better.

I have one from 1980. Very strong tuner and a very bright picture-extremely bright. These were built in St.Louis until sometime in the 80s and then they're Mexican.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm going to pass on this one.

I want a nice Zenith in my small collection, but I'm going to look for a 70's model built in Chicago at the many local garage sales in the next two months.

I've learned a lot from you guys regarding what to look for.

Now, if you ever find a small screen Chromacolor II, you'd better jump on it! I bought an early 13" (or maybe 15") CCII at a church sale for next to nothing. A new ECG526 tripler to replace the original burning one produced a very bright, sharp picture. That was back in the mid '90's when you could still find lots of cool stuff at yard sales.

I'm trying to remain optimistic about the upcoming yard-sale season, but there doesn't appear to be as many old TVs around as even 3-4 years ago....

Today I picked up an '88 Zenith 9inch color for 5 bucks. It was built in Mexico but it's a neat little set. This one's got the electronic tuner much like my '83 space command does. Works nicely and the crt is very bright.

Would be incredible to find a small-screen CCII set... I'm always a sucker for the portables...easier to transport :thmbsp:

Anyway, I wish everyone luck in finding some great old sets this summer....
