I have the Sylvania shown in the GTE ad. It's a 580 chassis, which is a modified CTC-15.

Is there any technical information available about this adaptor like the installation instructions and the schematic? I'd really like to see what it
consisted of and how it was connected to a 630.

Thanks, Cliff

Hey, your welcome! You have some great stuff on your web page that I have never seen before.

Also, I added two ads from 1956 for Colordaptor in the Old Color TV Ads folder. These are the "back of the magazine" type ads without any pictures:

Lots more to come...

Cliff, here is a schematic of the Colortone adapter, for connection to a Syncroguide horizontal circuit:

http://www.earlytelevision.org/colortone.html

The Color TV Notebook series (I've only ever seen part 1 and 2) also has schematics for several sets, including the 630.

Thanks Steve!

The Colortone unit looks functionally the same
as the one from Television Equipment Corp.

CBS color conversion (in B&W) of a 630 brings back memories. I was in high school during CBS tests and found an article and schematic in a magazine. Radio and TV News? I applies the schematic to my Father's 630 and stayed up to after midnight to see the CBS tests on NY station.

The best I could get by turning the Horiz control in the rear was 4 pix. The pix was stable. Before I could troubleshoot, my father wanted to see the Fri. Nite fights and boy was I in trouble. He took set to RCA service to be restored
and I was grounded from experimenting with the TV.

By the way, I kept the set through all the years and it stillworks great with original caps and CRT.
