Lots of metal in the chassis, looks like both antennas are there. You would have to spend at least $100 to find something comparable to that made today.

In the '80s-'90s, I had an "Air Castle" eight-band portable something like the Hitachi being discussed; it tuned AM, FM, SW and two police bands (30-50 and 152-174 MHz). Two telescoping antennas for the FM, SW and PSB frequencies, but just one ferrite core antenna for AM broadcast. The radio was built like a tank; should have held on to it. The only radio I've owned since then, and still have today, that even comes close as far as build quality goes is my 1958 Zenith TransOceanic which has a metal chassis and socketed transistors. The Air Castle set had a PC board and hard-wired semiconductors. I have no idea who made the Air Castle portable, but I seriously doubt it was the same firm that manufactured the original Aircastle radios circa 1940s-'50s. I think my set was simply a rebadged unit; for all I know it may have been originally manufactured by Panasonic, Hitachi, Sony...
